How will you celebrate Christmas this year?

On this 2020 covid edition of Christmas’ eve, I’m taking a moment to pause and reflect on the word “Christmas” and its meaning in my life.

Christmas is a day of meaning and traditions, a special day spend in the warm circles of friends and family.
— Margaret Thatcher

This Xmas, we are forced to alter the way we celebrate. We are forced to stay within our individual family bubbles. We are forced to change our traditions. How are you living this?

I will admit I have had some frustrations and resentment toward the government and the restrictions they have put in place. I don’t 100% agree with the strict guidelines but I am following them nonetheless because I know this too shall pass. We will be reunited with our extended families sooner or later.

Christmas to me means the birth of Christ, my saviour, my God. It’s a time to celebrate his birth and the reason He came on Earth to save us. Why do I use the abbreviated version: Xmas instead of writing the complete word? It’s simple. When I use the X, I am remembering Jesus’ cross he carried for us.

Xmas means celebration, means family time, gatherings, it means sharing precious moments and creating memories with family and friends. It‘a about giving back to these loving souls I have in my life. It’s also a time for baking Xmas cookies with my nieces. It’s a time of giving and receiving LOVE not focused on the gifts.

What does Christmas mean to you?!
